"Glass loves to play:
it bends light, gives value to mistakes, and it keeps me guessing.
That’s the fun of it"

CHAHAN X GIBERTO

Born from a long-standing friendship and a shared love of Venice, Chahan and Giberto Venezia unveil an exclusive collaboration during MAISON & OBJET in the city 2026 at Chahan Gallery in Paris. Reinterpreting an iconic Giberto Venezia glass form, Chahan presents a hand- blown Murano piece in a bespoke, luminous blue. The Chahan Blue glass features a grass-green rim that traces the horizon of the Venetian lagoon, where sky and water meet. The exhibition also features pieces from Giberto’s personal archive that inspired this unique creative dialogue.

GIBERTO VENEZIA X CODOGNATO

CLESSIDRA

Clessidra is more than a glass: it is a dialogue between past and present, uniting Murano’s hand-blown glass with Venice’s artisanal jewelry. Conceived by Giberto Arrivabene Valenti Gonzaga with Codognato, it reimagines the serpent—an emblem of both creators—into an hourglass of glass, silver, and precious stones. Requiring over 200 hours of work, Clessidra embodies Venice and the passage of time, its twin chambers echoing the two intertwined serpents and the two creative voices behind it.

SPECCHI FUTURISTI

For the ninth Venice Glass Week, Giberto Arrivabene Valenti Gonzaga unveils mirrors inspired by Futurism. Developed with AVV Barbini, Venetian master mirror-makers, the series translates Futurist paintings, especially Balla’s, into geometric tableaux. Glass elements are cut, mounted on wood, and framed in brass, with smaller versions featuring coffered wooden frames as a nod to Futurist aesthetics.

HOMAGE TO FONTANA

In 2017, during a trip to Buenos Aires, Giberto Arrivabene Valenti Gonzaga rediscovered Lucio Fontana and his Spatial Concepts. Back in Venice, he reflected on “slashing” glass as a tribute to Spatialism, and in 2019, together with master Gianni Seguso, created Homage to Fontana: a large vase engraved with cuts that reveal the inner color of the glass. His dialogue with modern art continued with tributes to Piero Manzoni and Alberto Burri. With Seguso, he realized Homage to Manzoni, a 30 cm white glass vase wrapped in a tangle of heat-sealed filaments, echoing the texture of Manzoni’s Achrome.

PAOLINA BORGHESE

The meeting between Adam Lowe, founder of Factum Arte, and Giberto Arrivabene Valenti Gonzaga led to the idea of reinterpreting Canova’s Paolina Bonaparte as Venus Victorious in glass. Inspired by Giberto’s Murano bust of Ottaviano Augusto, the project used advanced technology to create a sanded crystal version of Canova’s neoclassical masterpiece. Never before reproduced in glass, the sculpture celebrates Paolina Borghese’s sensual curves and brings a modern dimension to one of Canova’s most iconic works.

OTTAVIANO AUGUSTO

The glass Ottaviano Augusto was conceived in 2010 from Giberto Arrivabene Valenti Gonzaga’s passion for history, sculpture, and glass. Inspired by Ferdinand Barbedienne’s bronze copies of classical works, Giberto explored glass as a sculptural medium with the expertise of master Giorgio Giuman, using the lost-wax technique to overcome technical challenges. Produced in crystal, black, and amber, and since 2021 also in green avventurina, the bust reflects Giberto’s ambition to push the limits of glass, transforming it into a material capable of embodying classical form and timeless strength.

HOMAGE TO ROTHKO

For the eighth Venice Glass Week, Giberto Arrivabene Valenti Gonzaga presented a sculpture in three color variations paying homage to Mark Rothko. Using a complex overlay of fused glass sheets with color applied in large fields and sealed with varnish, the works echo Rothko’s luminous transitions and abstract boundaries. Always drawn to abstraction, Giberto—after tributes to Manzoni, Fontana, and Burri—celebrates Rothko through glass, a medium whose hues shift with the light. The choice reflects not only Rothko’s role as master of color fields but also his biography, resonating with the Biennale’s theme Foreigners Everywhere.
