Giberto
“In my earliest memories Venice colors were different.
The city was more obscure, dramatic, decayed and deeply romantic. The atmosphere was more dazzling perhaps, but less poetic.”
GIBERTO, the designer
The life of Giberto Arrivabene Valenti Gonzaga is profoundly intertwined with Venice, the city that shaped his sensibility and artistic vision. His most vivid and cherished childhood memories unfold within the grand halls of Palazzo Papadopoli, surrounded by the luminous frescoes of Tiepolo and the warmth of family life.
It was within this environment, rich in beauty, culture and refinement, that his passion for beautiful objects first emerged, together with the desire to preserve and reinterpret them through contemporary creativity.
Married to Bianca di Savoia Aosta, Giberto is the father of five children, four daughters and one son, the youngest of the family. Yet it is still he who delights in the details of the home, from fabrics to fragrances and atmosphere. “It is part of my maternal heritage,” he explains. “A beautiful gift that deeply shaped the way I see the world.”
The origins of Giberto Venezia, today a celebrated name in Venetian design and Murano glass, are layered and multifaceted. They arise from an innate artistic sensibility, an education in beauty, a lifelong passion for travel and the serendipitous encounters that so often shape creative destinies.
Rooted in the traditions of Venetian craftsmanship and brought to life through collaborations with master Murano glassmakers and Italian artisans, the world of Giberto Venezia celebrates timeless elegance and the enduring artistry of handmade objects.
"Venice is right for me; it suits my character. It is the ideal place to live and to create."
Each Giberto creation today is born from an ongoing dialogue between the designer and the artisan, between tradition and innovation, between past and present. What remains constant is the study and the research, the respect for the balance of a world, the world of Murano glass, that must, above all, be preserved.
