The news

Giberto Arrivabene has been surrounded by beauty since childhood. He grew up in the extraordinary world of a Venetian palazzo, immersed in family history and frescoes by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo. Today he lives with his family in a private apartment on the top floor, while the rest of the residence—and its quiet garden—has been home since 2014 to the refined city hideaway Aman Venice.

His fascination with glass began early. Whenever a glass broke in the family home, he would go to Murano to find a replacement. There he watched the master glassmakers at work—far fewer today than they once were—and eventually began experimenting with his own pieces. The result is an exceptional collection of glasses, sculptures and decorative objects, constantly evolving with new ideas.

One of his greatest milestones came in spring 2024, when he had the opportunity to open a Giberto boutique in one of the coveted shop spaces near the iconic Rialto Bridge. With the help of architect Giovanni Kubin de Cervin Albrizzi, he created a setting that highlights his carefully curated glass objects to perfection.

“We’re living through challenging times,” he says. “The shortage of skilled artisans and steadily rising production costs make things increasingly difficult—just like the many fakes circulating beyond our control.”

His passion for beautiful objects—and his entrepreneurial spirit—has clearly been passed down to the next generation. His two eldest children have launched their own brand, VIBI Venezia, designing and producing a collection of traditional furlane slippers.
